In the Eighteenth Dynasty of Ancient Egypt, Pharaoh Amenhotep III was reading a foreign correspondence written on sheets of papyrus. When flipping through the correspondence, one sheet of papyrus slipped and fell onto a small puddle of water. Amenhotep’s annoyance gave way to wonder as he observed the papyrus soaking up all the water, leaving the ground below perfectly dry. Since this critical moment, paper has been revered for millennia for its sanitary properties.
In truth, none of that actually happened. But it does highlight paper’s inherent ability to clean messes and spills. And these days, there is a wide variety of paper towels at our disposal to keep our world safe and hygienic. In this squeaky-clean article, we will go over the different kinds of paper towels you can find here at PackagingSuppliesByMail.
Center Pull Paper Towels come as a round roll. However, unlike most paper towels, where you start the roll by pulling from the outside, you instead do as the name says: pull from the center of the roll. A center pull paper towel roll comes pre-perforated in set sheet sizes and is typically used with towel dispensers featuring grabbing teeth around the center to ease in releasing a single sheet at a time.
Hardwound Towels are also manufactured as a round paper towel roll. These towels are dispensed from the outside of the roll, like most paper towels. The name “hardwound” comes from how the paper is tightly wound around the roll, maximizing the roll’s capacity. Hardwound towels are not perforated are often found in the towel dispensers in public restrooms.
Unlike the two previous types, Multi-Fold Paper Towels are produced as a rectangular stack. Multi-fold towels come as individual sheets and feature an interlocking triple-fold design so that when a sheet is taken, it readies the next sheet. Like the previous two, these towels are typically found in restrooms, food establishments, and other common public spaces.
Paper towels are a core aspect of modern hygiene. They’re quick, convenient, and highly effective. The variety of towel types allows different kinds of facilities to supply sanitary paper wherever and however they can. And the technology behind these products continues to push forward and innovate in order to maximize the absorptive and hygienic properties of the common paper towel.
